Doctor Who: Partners In Crime (no SPOILERS in post)
This reminds me why I adore this show so much. Forty-five minutes of sheer gleeful invention, playfulness, and unbridled optimism. Donna Noble is suddenly the new Sarah Jane Smith... which just makes the fact that we've still got the old Sarah Jane Smith in her own show as well all the more delightful. The Doctor gets a couple of significant character beats, showing that he's beginning to realise how oblivious and hard he's been. And that one moment towards the end was a sheer "they're not -- they can't -- they ARE" heartstopper.

So when do I get my squeaky-toy Adipose?

(There may be SPOILERs in the comments, but none in the post itself.)

When is Sarah-Jane's show? I had missed that.

(I was also daft enough to tape the new Dr Who right after the out-going Torchwood. Moodshifts that fast make me dizzy!)

That trick was a dream-come-true, but only if used with restraint.

By Christmas, if not earlier. I've got no doubt about it.

The creatures were a little too cute, and the "alien nanny", bleh.

But the window scene was funny funny funny. And the ending? Tease us this early!! :P Also, doesn't Billie look different there? I don't know if it was lack of makeup, but she just looked.. different somehow.

Warning - Comment does indeed contain spoilers for the episode in question

I think in retrospect the thing I liked best (apart from the ridiculous fun of the silent conversation and the fan-service moment at the end) is that I spent the entire episode anticipating that the cute and innocent Adiposelings would at any moment go all vamp-faced and razor-fanged on someone (Donna, presumably). It delights me that their charming character remained untarnished to the end.

And yeah, I totally want one of those. Uh, for my baby boy. Yeah. Ahem.

I know from [info]hhertzof on my flist that there's already a knitting pattern if someone wants to handmake a plush Adipose, but not the same thing to be sure.
