Current mood:weirdly relieved

Last night Kate and I were talking about the Steptoe And Son play from a few years ago, Murder In Oil Drum Lane, which starts from the premise that Harold Steptoe finally snapped and killed Albert and is now being haunted by his ghost.

This prompted a whole series of other sitcoms we'd like to see wrapped up in such a fashion -- starting with the made-for-TV movie Napalm Strike On Gilligan's Island; a crossover between Are You Being Served and Dexter; the suicide-pact Very Special Episode of Three's Company; the goat going berserk on The Good Life; and "This week's special guest star on Mind Your Language: a large tube of antimatter..."

(Said tube, we decided, would have the words "Squeeze Me Please" written on the side in large friendly letters.)

I always have a soft spot for the infamous Dr Mengele episode of "The Patty Duke Show".

I wonder how the Top Gear team would have managed in Countrycide.

And the challenge would probably involve dismantling the SUV and refabricating it into a super-sized BBQ grill...

A chilling end to a sitcom that *should* have been laid to rest a lot sooner:
"It Ain't Half Cold, Mum"

From the world of slushy teen soaps, the one with the mummy:
"Dawson's Ominous Cre-e-e-ea-ea-ea-k!"

Patrick Moore's final broadcast: "The Sky at Height" (y'know, the one with the mysteriously failing parachute).

On the non-comedy side...

This thread does come across as a little sick, you know. :-)

But on the non-comedy side, how about the series finale of Battlestar Galactica, "Meet The Daleks"?

I read this last week and couldn't think of any contributions. (Well, I thought of "Up Pompeii!" on Volcano Day, then I remembered they actually did it.)

Today I suddenly thought "Rentaghost: The Exorcism".

*snicker* A friend of mine once suggested that they should have done Rentaghostwatch...

(They did volcano day? When was that? Admittedly I've only ever seen about three episodes...)

The film. And yes, everyone died, although we then flashforwarded to a group of identical tourists being shown the ruins by Lurcio the tour guide. (This may or may not have influenced another historical comedy in which the same characters appeared in different periods and everyone died at the end...)
